The Keys By Sonia Andrea Bautista Amaya

THE KEYS

I always have the keys of my apartment with me. I live on the fifth floor. One day, I went to the shopping and returned to the apartment with many bags, so, I thought, “Why don’t I take multiple bags, so I make several trips.?” That way it was more comfortable for me because I was alone.
I started with the first bags, when I made the second trip; I felt that I didn’t have the keys with me. I checked over all bags and I just found the car key´s I couldn’t find niether the parking lot nor the apartment keys. I left the keys in the apartment after the first trip with the bags. In that moment, I realized that I was locked in the building. It was 4pm so, I called my husband. He said, “Why don’t you come for my keys?.” And I told him what happened to me. I remembered him that I also left in the apartment the keys of the parking lot. He laughed and said, “You must wait for me because, I can’t go out early.” He was at work.

I returned at the car to wait for my husband. I waited for 2 hours in the car. Those 2 hours were longest than always. I was hungry, I was tired, I wanted be in my bed. When my husband came home, He helped me with bags. When we entered at the apartment I realized that, the keys were next to the first bags.

It was a day longer that all. But after that, I looked that it was funny. Nowadays, I always check the keys before closing the door.
