When I was a child…

My childhood was very happy. My parents were strict but they were incredibly sweet with me.
When I was a child I didn´t like to watch TV because I preferred play with my toys in my house or did my homework… I loved go to school. However I was a very lonely girl.
When I was 7 years old my little sister was born. I was very happy because now She would be at my house to play and have fun. It was wonderful!
My parents and I were happy. My dad and I made a house party for My mom and My sister. We bought balloons, cake and some gifts to celebrate this great day. When my mom and My little sister came home all change. I was bored with my little sister at home because all time She was crying and crying… in the morning… at night She was crying! It was awful!
However She grew very fast. It took some time but She stopped cry then when She grew a little It was the best. We were together all time. We are good friends.

I love her!!!

Stefany Noguera Lopera

When I was 6 years old, I remember it as a very happy time of my childhood. One of my earliest memories, I was in a cardboard box with my cousins and we were making plastic jar noise to disturb the family until my grandmother scolded us. I remember that my mom bought me a little pig. it's name was HOY HOY . She bought me it on a large farm, where there were many piglets. It was the most skinny. The owner of the farm tell me “ Maybe it's die, because it's is sick” but I didn't believe him. The veterinarian helped to care. Hoy Hoy made me laugh a lot and we ate together. We went at park every day and people looked at us. It was my first pet and it made me very happy and it made me appreciate more animals.

My father caught me

When I was fourteen years old I was very rebel and I did not like the school. One day, I was going to school, and I called my friend Jonathan and I said him, “Can I visit you? I don´t want to go to school”, and he answered, “yeah you can”. I did not go to school. then I arrived his house at 1pm and we saw videos. At 4pm he had to go out because he had to buy things for his mother but I could not go with him because maybe my father and my mother were in a park and they could catch me. My friend went to buy the things and I went to my aunt's house, I did not know, how I explain to my aunt that I did not want to go to school? . I arrived her house and I said, “I am really bored in the school, I did not like it, please for this day let me stay here”, and my aunt answered, “only for this day but you have to talk whit your mother about it”, and I said, “thank you, it was only for this day” and I went to the room and I was watching TV. When I heard the sound of a car, I looked out the window and It was my father´s car and I ran and I said my aunt, “¡It is my father!, ¡aunt please hide me!”, and my aunt I hid in the closet, when my father climbed the scales he said, “oh, Nubia I was very worried because  lady´s teacher called me and said that Lady did not go to study”, my aunt said, “oh it is a problem” but Roberto please sit down, I give you something to drink,  but… in this room was my bag,  it was a gift from my father, when he sat down  and he saw the bag, he said, “oh, this is lady´s bag ” he was very angry and he walked  all over the house and I was afraid. When he found me, he went to my house and he did not say anything, but for two months he did not give me money and he did not talk me.  ¡It was very terrible!.

Chilhood memories

My name is Durley Salazar.  My mother is Otilia Agudelo.  My father is Pedro Salazar. I was born and I grew on a small village in Antioquia.  We were a big family. I have 15 siblings but 6 of them passed away. When I was in elementary school, I was very introverted.  I didn’t talk. I didn’t play with my classmates but I was the best student all the time. I only had 2 friends in my childhood and their names were Monica and Etelvina. Etelvina travelled with her parents on another village and she never come back. I only spent the rest of time in elementary school with Monica. She was my best friend.  I had my first boyfriend when I was 15 years old. But it wasn’t a serious relationship because we only talked and walked  when we met each other.  He wrote me letters.  He visited me three times in one year because he lived in Medellin city.  He kissed me only one time and for this reason we broke up.

Then, I moved to Medellin city.  I finished high school and I started university.  When I finished university, started to work and then I married me.

Two years latter, my daughter Laura was born.

Personal experience

Juan Pablo Perez Ramirez.

When I was 10 yeas old I remember that I was at the farm with my cousins, when one of them asked me the favour to helphim to ride a horse but he didn´t know horse riding.

As my cousin couldn´t horse riding I had to ride with him.First we were away from the farm, my cousin and I were happy and smiling; but when we were arriving at the farm, the horse  went crazy and I lost control; the horse ran all round the farm and in a moment it was going to pass between two short and coppiced trees. I could duck the tree but my cousin couldn´t. After than my cousin fell to the ground. Then I went to see him  and he had all the face hurted and his face was bleeding. After that my father and my uncle cleaned his face.

I remembered this day because since then I never horse riding to with anyone for more than five years.

Six years later I rode with a Spanish cousin on a horse at the same farm and it was successful, but I was very scared because I remembered my cousin´s accident.

This is an anecdote about my childhood. When I was twelve years old, I had a great friend his name was Camilo, I met him in the school when I was nine years old, he and I used to go out to different places in my town, I lived in Amalfi, we liked to walk for the mountains, for the forests and go to the brooks and lakes for swim. We went out to play and eat a lot of fruits. One day camilo and me went to a mud lake for have some fun there, the lake was far from the town, we have been playing about two hours, and we wanted to submerge our bodies on the mud, first we submerged the legs and then we were submerged until stomach, it was all very funny, but when we tried to leave the situation became bad, we weren’t able to leave, we tried to leave but we submerged more, in that place there wasn't houses or people close, we were alone, camilo was crying and he got out first, then he tried to help me but it was difficult. He said me: “I go to call your brother”, and i answered: “not, the town is far, we can to leave, come on.” We were very scared, that was terrible, but we were finally able to leave, after that we swam in clean water to cleanse us, now camilo and I were very happy, and then we went home. It was a nice day, a funny day, and that was a day we will never forget.

MISCHIEF

MISCHIEF

When I was a child I lived next to my stepfather’s job. He had a pantry of recycling. There were newspapers, magazines, junk and old toys. I played in the cellar with my brothers and we always found something new to do. But my mom didn’t like that we played there because we always got very dirty.

One day we found a golden ribbon and we played mummies. We wrapped the ribbon around our bodies and we played all day. When we finished playing we were completely golden as the tape released its color, so I decided to look like an Egyptian queen and I painted my entire body with the golden ribbon.

When we came back with my mother she was very angry and she made me take a shower in the backyard with a hose, but unfortunately the paint I could not get the paint off my body. We were punished very strongly and I also had to go to school for a whole week with the skin covered in gold, so all my classmates laughed at me.

My first grade by Claudia Bedoya

When I was in first grade I had a very demanding teacher She did not like that the students go to the bathroom in the school day and did not like that we talked when She was meeting with another person. One day, I needed go to the bathroom and for fear that scold me I peed in uniform and anyway She scolded me for having done so, that day my friends laughed at me and touched me stay no panties, only with the apron.
During this first year of school my teacher taught me to read and this issue was very difficult for me, the teacher wrote words on the board so that I read and this was impossible. My sister studied in the same school and everyday my teacher called my sister to know that they would do with me because I did not learn to read. The teacher finally did a meeting with my mom so She undertook to study hard with me in the house.

My Childhood
By Erica Holguin G
When I remember my childhood, I always get homesick. I have beautiful memories.
I am the youngest daughter of a family of 4 brothers. My sister is the oldest and I am the youngest. My sister Sandra is 9 years oldest than me.
I had a good relationship with my sister and my two brothers. I was a spoiled child.
I was like a boy. I had a short hair and I wore clothes for boys: t shirts, jeans and sneakers. I never wore a dress.
I liked to share with my brothers every time and everywhere. I didn’t know limits because I thought that I was bigger than my friends of the same age because I felt protection from my brothers in the neighborhood and with my sister in the school.
I did almost everything that my brothers did, except fighting. I played soccer in the street. When my brothers climbed hills, I climbed hills, when my brothers went biking, I went bikingI swam in the same way than my brothers did. I never saw danger in the street, or in sports, neither in my adventures. However, I had several accidents without serious consequences.
When I grew, I learned to dance with my sister and after that, I practiced with my friends. But, my brothers never left me alone in the parties. We always were together.
Unfortunately, when I began my adolescent all changed.
Today, I give thanks to my sister and my two brothers. I love them.  I feel that I grew free and I enjoyed my childhood.

PERSONAL ANECDOTE 12 YEARS AGO

I had a very sad experience in my life when I was 12 years old. My family had a farm in Cisneros. In december my family decided to celebrate christmas on the farm. I went with my parents, my sisther, cousins, uncles and grandmother. I remember the day of the event. It was a sunday. I did not want to go to church. I wanted to stay with my grandmother and my aunt Teresita on the farm, however, they wanted to go to church and at last I went with them, too. I remember that it was more or less 4:00pm. The farm was 30 minutes from town. The was a dirt road. We went on a truck. The truck was loaded with bags of concentrate for animals. We had traveled for more or less 15 minutes when my sister and I listened when my father said " the car has no brakes." We did not understand what happen. My cousin who was 15 years old said, " quickly, jump off the truck." I went into shock. I did not know what to do. the carwas going very fast. I saw my mother and  grandmother fall. I saw when my mom ran behind the car. My mother cried, my father stayed in the car.car crashed into a tree. The car spun everybody ran to where my grandmother was. She was on the floor, she was hurt. My mother had blood on his head. Everybody  went to the health center. My grandmother was seriosly injured that day we went to Medellin. My grandmother was hospitalized for one week. My grandmother had surgery after a few days. My grandmother's health condition deteriorated.  Shewas in a "coma" for three years. This anecdote was hard for me.

My childhood memories

I was always a very calm baby. I was always very cheerful. I liked to sing, dance, and recite. I studied in the nursery the turtles. The first day my aunt took me and left me crying, she was crying too. When I was two years I first went to Cartagena with my mom, and a friend with her child. It was a great experience; I had fun playing on the beach.

When I was smaller, I liked playing with my friends, went for walks, and went go swimming. I also loved eating meat, spaghetti, sandwich, and blackberry juice. I loved chocolate. At breakfast I always ate eggs, otherwise, had not had breakfast. I still I have those habits. I eat eggs almost every day; I love the spaghetti, meat, and blackberry juice.

When I enter the school, I was four years. I cried the first day but I made new friends, and met a friend with whom I shared six years. When I was in seventh grade, had a change of teacher and we did not like. We made many wars of paper.

Naughtiness by Sebastian Gomez Peña

When I was 13 years old I was pretty naughty. For example, one day I went to school and I didn't go to the class room because I preferred to play soccer all day. That day I played 3 soccer games and after that I went to the gym class. My Classmates told the teacher what I was doing and he got really angry. The teacher organized a "searching team" to find me. For that reason I got a suspension from school for 2 days, and my parents scolded and punished me and they didn't gave me money for 2 months. After that my parents have also find out that I have been making bad things. My parents don’t trusted me for long time. :(

My favorite childhood memory " MARIA ELENA MORENO POSADA"

My favorite childhood memory

When I was eight years old I received my first communion.  My mother invited me to a party with my friends, this day was unforgettable. I wore a white dress, and I looked like a princess. That was probably my best moment of my childhood.

Another special moment was my first time on a plane. I was going to San Andrés Island with my mom. It was also her first time flying. We took the plane in the afternoon and because the flight was delayed, we arrived at night. I remember seeing gorgeous landscapes around the island. The beaches there were really pretty. During the time on the island we went to several places like “Morgan’s cave”, we also went shopping and we bought a lot of things that by that time were really expensive in the big cities, but cheaper in San Andrés.

The hotel was comfortable and it had a lot of facilities like a pool, big rooms with air conditioner, among other things. I always will remember this trip and honestly I can say this is one of my favorite childhood memories.

I remember moments in the army. Rafa Luna

I remember moments in the army

It was awful. I was so scared because the soldiers were very strict, so I was nervous. My parents were very sad because they felt that it was dangerous. It was on December 5 1996. I remember it was a very hot sunny day. I lived in Barranquilla and I had to provide the military service in a base near of my house.
At the beginning it was very hard and stressful. I had to get up very early. I always came from last to the formation, so I had to do very hard physical excercise.
My collegues and I had to be in the main courtyard after we took breakfast. It was terrible. The breakfast was a piece of cheese and little piece of bread. I drank some chocolery ate. Because of this I fainted. I didn´t eat well. Sometimes lunch was good. I liked a lot of when cheff cooked some beans. Dinner was very sad. Anyway, I don´t like remember. This routine I lived almost a year.

Big Jump by Lina Luján

25 years ago, when I was 3 years old I lived in la America with my mother. I was a little child and I was very nervious. I didn´t like to be alone. My mother was a teacher and when she was in the work, I was in my home with the maid. The maid was a bad person, she locked me in a room, while she swept and mopped, for this reason I was a nervious child.
On weekends, my mom was with me. One Saturday morning, I was in the balcony watching birds through the window. My mom, was in the roof hanging clothes. I was quiet, but the door closed, and it sounded very strong. I got scared and cried for a long time. My mother didn´t listen me. She was in the fourth floor. I screamed and cried through thewindow, and the neighbors listened me. They said me: “Be quiet, your mom come right now”. I was very scared, I stood on a chair and I screamed very desperate. I didn´t like to be alone. I wanted to throw out the window. Neighbors stood in the street, holding a blanket together and I jumped through the window. A neighbor hugged me and I was quiet again. I lived in a second floor.

By Tania Isabel Ruiz Z.

When i was a child, the vacations always was in grandfather’s farm with my sisters Sofia and Raquel and my cousins Claudia, Jenny, Dilcia and Mercedes. Every day we swam in the laguna and we went horseback riding. We also walked around the country picking flowers and eating fruits: mangoes and bananas. Every night my grandfather roasted cobs with butter. Those were the best meals!

On a vacation, my cousin Claudia found the grandfather´s tobacco in a box. Jenny said, “Let´s smoke tobacco to know what it feels.” We smoked all tobacco. After that, i had a lot of dizziness and vomit. When my grandfather came back he didn´t find any cigarettes. He called us an asked us, “Where is my tobacco? And why is Tania vomiting?” Claudia said, “We don´t know where you keep tobacco´s box.” Sofia said, “Tania is sick by to eat many bananas.” However, my grandpa never said that the cigars were in a box and this day don´t there were any bananas, there were some pineapples. He asked again, “Why do you have that smell?” Jenny said, “Because Tania is vomiting.” Finally, Raquel talked and confessed that we found the box and smoked all cigars. My grandfather punish us and sent us to grandmother´s house. Many years later, he confessed that he knew from the beginning that we smoked tobacco by the smell.
MY FIRST CHILDHOOD MEMORY

Today, I want to share my first childhood memory. I was born in a simple town on the east of Antioquia; the families were very close and what they had it was share by all; they shared everything they had, and even the children were delivered from a family to other one, to present them in baptism and to be dedicated to God.

The first recollection that comes to my mind when I think about my childhood is always the same one:

I was in my baptism godfather’s house with his son Hector; I was about three years old; and I remember that we were in the court of the house; I remember the smile and the happiness of everyone, but it could not understand very well; we were under one of the cows - one that was called "the paturra " - milking it with a few jars; I remember that it was pulling and pulling the teats of the cow, but nothing was coming out no milk; so many years ago, I see that this matter was not so easy.

Still, in several family gatherings we remember with great joy this moment, and I get mocked by my family; this three year old boy seems to be so remote…. Jajajajajaja

My first flight!

When I was 7 years old, I traveled to San Andres island  on holiday. I went with my parents for 5 days and 4 nights. This was my first flight and the first time I saw the sea.

In San Andres, we stayed at a nice hotel called "El Dorado" This was near the beach. This had a restaurant, swimming pool and many rooms.

A bad time was when I swam in the sea, I drank water and I realized that it was salty, but this was fun.

We sailed on a submarine and we saw many species of animals through a glass. Then we went to the aquarium, we swam with the fish and we gave them food.

It was a fun and special trip with my parents. I will never forget it.

Daniela Ürrego.

I HAD A FUNNY EXPERIENCE

When I was 12 years old , I went to the corn party in Sonson during a long weekend. My cousins on my father’s side lived in Sonson. One of my cousins participated in a beauty contest and she won. I had a funny expriencie.
Sonson wheater is very cold at night, and there was no shower at that time, but water bathing tanks for the bath.

On Saturday afternoon, I went out with my cousins to the cafeteria. When I was in halfway between the house and cafeteria, I needed to go to the bathroom. In the cafeteria, we drank somethin hot. At that moment I didn’t need the bathroom. Then we went back home, but half way between the cafeteria and home, I felt again the urge to go to the bathroom. Then I told my cousins to run from there to the house whoever came first, and I went out running with all the strength I had. When I needed a block to get to the house, I stopped runing and started walking, and my cousins asked me, “Why are you walking”. I told them, I didn’t need to run, I wetted myself. Anyway, I had to get home, not to rest, but to bath.

My first vacations. Zaira Ramïrez

When I was about five years old I went on vacation to Coveñas with my family. We traveled for two days by car. While we were on the road we spent a night in a hotel with a very small room where there was no light.

When we got to Coveñas we stayed at a big hotel that was close to the beach and had many palm trees full of coconuts. My dad took us to the mud volcano, but I was so afraid that I cried a lot because I thought the volcano was going to swallow up my father. Finally my dad talked me into taking a mud bath and I loved it.

The only bad moment I had during the trip was when my father was swimming in the deep sea. I thought he was going to swim away and I started to call him but he did not listen and I decided to swim out to him.  Then I started to drown and some people saved me.

It was wonderful playing with my cousins in the sand and ocean all day. This was a perfect vacation for me that i will always remember.  Two weeks after, we arrived at home my father was killed.
