New Year's Eve

When I was a child, I celebrated New Year's Eve with all my family. Some days before the celebration, my family saved money to buy a pig, drinks, and things like that. We waited for this day anxiously. That day in the morning, they killed the pig and they prepared the food for the following days. In the afternoon, all of us went out to the street to throw corn flour on each other. After that, we went to change our clothes, and at night we got together outside to eat, dance and shout for joy because of the New Year. At midnight, we also said good bye to the old year by burning dummies on big bonfires. Other families around our house celebrated in the same way.

Nowadays, New Year is not celebrated as it was before. Families aren’t as united as in the past. Nowadays, only some families come together to celebrate and share. People say good bye to the old year away from home, in clubs and bars with their friends. Only a few people continue some traditions, such as eating 12 grapes, wearing red or yellow underwear, first congratulate the family, and stuff like that.

I think that in the future, people are going to forget traditions and families are not going to get together. People are just going to want to go out and be with friends. They are not going to burn dummies. They are not going to eat grapes, ask for wishes, or wear specific-color underwear. People are going to forget the magic of the New Year’s celebration which is really to celebrate in family .

We ate seafood all the weekend like shrimp, octopus, lobster, crab and salmon.
The first day we slept all day because we were very tired.
The second day we went hiking two hours to Panama in the mountain I saw the best scenary, we visited La Miel Panama, We swam and we drunk coconut water, the third day we went finishing all day but I didn´t get anything, It was very difficult. My last weekend

Last saturday I was with my lovely and beautiful boyfriend and his family in llanogrande. We were talking about pets because his sister likes dogs. She talked about big dogs but she didn't know any names of dogs. My boyfriend was quiet because he doesn't like dogs, he likes horses.

Later, we walked and we saw a man with three little dogs, her sister ran to the man to see the dogs. The dogs were Samoyedos and they were very beautiful. They wanted to have one, and they buy one of them. The name of the dog is Zeta. Zeta was the most beautiful of  all, I was very happy. That day was very good because I like to be with my boyfriend and Zeta.

At night we went to a restaurant to have dinner and the food was very good, and finally we saw a movie.

The next day we went to pool because the day was very good, the sun was very beautiful and we had a good time. At night we went to eat a burguer in El Lleras. In El Lleras was a lot of people of other parts. We ate the burguer and we went home because I wanted to sleep, my boyfriend drove to my house and then he went to his house.

I liked all because  I was  with my boyfriend, because he was very funny  and kind.
I love him.

MY FIRST TRIP TO EUROPE

When I was 12 years old in 1997, my mom took me for a trip to Europe and Israel.
I was the happiest girl in the world when she told me that in a month I was travelling to another country. I felt like if I was going to live in another planet. I also remember that was my first time on a plane.
So, It came December 1997 and we traveled from Medellín to Bogotá and then from Bogotá to the world. We went to Germany and we visited cities such as Frankfurt, Berlin and Bavaria. After 8 days in Germany, we went to Austria, Switzerland and Italy. We visited the Sixtine Chapel in Vatican City. Then we traveled in a Gondola to the Capri Island while a gentleman sang “Oh Sole Mio”. Then we came back to Rome and then we flew to Tel Aviv Israel. After a month of traveling, I was in Holy Land with my mom visiting Jerusalem.

This was an almost two month trip, where I met cities and beatiful places such as castles, parks and also awesome people. This trip changed my life and I am sure I will do it again someday.

my childhood

Pablo jose castaño palacio.

In my childhood i spend big events.
For example I was at school, in the early years I had a big problem and the problem was that I did not want to go to school because simply I was too lazy.
My family was worried but my mom made a decision and said, “If you do not want to study for this reason, then you won`t have the things you like.”
12 years ago, I could not celebrate my birthday and no person could congratulate or give me something.
8 years ago, I separated from my mom because she went to work to United States. I was very sad but I was happy because it was to improve our future.
I went to United States to visit my mom 4 times but then I could not go anymore because I did not renew my visa.
4 years ago, my mom and I saw each other by webcam also 4 years ago, I graduated from my school, my family was very happy especially my mom and dad.
It was a year of many celebrations with my friends for example we had the prom and we traveled to San Andres, it was crazy.
My friends and I remembered every moment that we spend at school, when we played soccer and when we copied in the exams and many things.
I loved my childhood. I didn`t like going to my mom`s friends’ houses but I loved to visit my grandparents because I liked the food from my grandmother.
I really liked my childhood and all the moments I lived.

Lorena Medina - My Graduation Gift

My Graduation  Gift

10 years ago, I finished the school. I was only 16, and my graduation gift was a trip to coveñas whit my cousins: Mateo, Jorge, Alejandra and my Sister Natalia. We were lodged in a beautiful cabin, and It was very near to the beach. We stayed about three wonderful days. The first day, we were relaxed at the beach, we didn’t have any floats, so we bought some floats for swam in the sea. At night, we went out to eat sea food.

The second day, we got up very early because we took a bus to visit Tolu. Tolu is a Village close to coveñas. When we arrived to Tolu, we did activities like:  walked around the downtown, we took a bicycle tour, we took a boat ride also, we stepped ashore to visit paradise Island, we tasted coconut milk, and ate garlic shrimp. After that, we took a sunbathe on the beach and swam in beautiful blue sea. But my sister said, " I'm feeling a bit sick because of the shrimps. I want to go back soon." So, we came back to coveñas, we were very tired and I worried about my sister. But when  we got back to the cabin, she was feel best. The third day,  It was very relax, we were on the beach all day and we slept in a hammock. It was an amazing journey, we were very happy.

My first day ath the dance academy (Anny Duran)

MY FIRST DAY AT THE DANCE ACADEMY

2 years ago I started my dance classes. I was excited,  by the illusion that the day will come to learn to dance tango was getting closer. I was determined to do it at any way, so looked for a dance academy.

I remember going with my best friend and convinced her to take the classes with me. The first day of classes, we were told to do a placement test. I laughed and said “as well if I was dancing”... and my teacher responded ... “if you want to learn to dance tango, you should first take bolero, fox, salsa and some porro classes”
When my teacher named joint porro classes I wanted to go,  because I did not like that kind of music, but my friend advised me to stay and see what it was and us enjoying the test,  so we had to start from scratch. We stayed in  there for two hours.

After an hour I started to feel anxious, afraid, my hands were sweating,  just thinking I had to enter that room to make me dance test.  That absurd! Despite that I decided to stay until the end. It was the worst decision ... when I approached my turn, my legs started shaking, my hands were sweating too, I was super stressed.
When I get half the room my teacher realized the test.  I was very scared. Although laughed at me, and he was considered and proposed me dance a salsa song for me to relax,  then made a change the music and evaluated me. Fortunately he did so otherwise,  I would have been frustrated and not enjoying the dance would be my passion as I do now.

When I was 6 years old, I went to the zoo with my classmates. I remember it well; we saw many animals such as lions, tigers and elephants. The teacher’s name was Juan Fernando and he was friendly. I remember that he said us: “Be careful with lions.” All of us ran totally scared and screamed for help. It was very funny.

After, we ate burger and fries potatoes. I love fast food, but it was not healthy in my child age. We also ate ice cream and popcorns.

At the end of the day, we arrived to school by bus. My parents picked up me and we went to home. I slept during the trip.

When we got home, my mother said: “First you must take a shower and after dinner.” She cooked meat, vegetables and rice. I ate all my dinner and brushed my teeth. Finally, I drew a picture of my trip with my friends and my teacher.
THE WET STORY
By Javier D. Macias Toro.

When I was 10 years old and fifth grade I loved to play soccer. So one day, after leaving school I went home of my aunt Alba, who lived in another neighborhood. There was a small soccer camp with wooden arcs near there. When I walked around the soccer camp some friends invited me to play soccer. I told them, "I can´t. I´m wearing my school tennis shoes." Then my friends said to me, "don´t worry, we´ll play without shoes." So I put my shoes under a bush and went to play. The weather was cloudy, but that didn´t  matter. Soon after, it started to rain and then it transformed into a really crazy game. The grass was very wet, so people slid several meters on the ground. We fell many times on the grass. Our clothes ended very muddy. The outcome of the match was 20-15. Our clothes, hair, and body were totally wet and my tennis shoes was swimming in a pool of mud. So I came home and washed my clothes and tennis. Then, I put the shoes behind the fridge to dry. Unlucky, it was a time of electricity rationing and the light went out. So I went to school with my tennis shoes very wet. I was cold. My mother never knew it, fortunatelly!

Andrea Garcìa

9 years ago my family and I went on a trip to Eje Cafetero.  That day we all got up at 6 am. We took a shower. We got dressed. We eat, and we left. My father was the driver and co-driver mother. We were listening to music of all kinds, so that my father did not give him dream. He had worked all night before. We had a quiet trip, and uncomplicated. My father kept whenever necessary. At 11am we arrived in town of Pereira. We ate, and bought candy for the rest of the trip. We arrived at our destination at 4pm.  The hotel where we were going to be was beautiful. The hotel was like a farm with many cottages had a pleasant, very green area, swimming pool, Jacuzzi, gym and more. For me the most good was that we had all the services only for us as we were the only ones in the hotel.  That day we arrived at the hotel. We were assigned the cottage. This was three bedrooms, two bathrooms, kitchen, TV room and a beautiful view of the surrounding area. My parents and my brothers went to sleep because they were very tired from trip. I went to meet the rest of the hotel. Then we went to dinner, and we know the town where we were staying at 8pm. We back to the hotel, and went to bed. During our stay in Eje Cafetero. We went to the Coffee Park. It was a place beautiful, amazing for the whole family. My brothers and I were very funny. Then we went to Panaca Park. I saw the beautiful calves, big fat cows, and beautiful horses. That day my family and I saw an exhibition of animals, also my brother and I gave drinking milk the goats and we took many pictures with animals. We visited many restaurants where the food was great. The hotel also enjoyed. My brothers and I we got into the pool in the morning, the Jacuzzi at night, and we played pool with our parents. For me it was a great trip.

Torture in the camp

When I was 10 years old, I got into in an scout group, in Urrao the town where I lived.
We used to walk around the field, to cross rivers, to walk up mountains and to pass a lot of obstacles with a very heavy bag in the back, but my older brother always carried mine.
I was a very fearful girl, and I remember that while my friends were happy doing those things, I was nervous, crying and waiting for everybody’s help
In the evenings we camped, my friends were happy sleeping all together, but I was scared of the night, the animals and the ghosts, then I prefered to sleep in a house with the nuns that went with us.
Although it was a torture for me to go to the camps and my friends always laughted at me, they helped me, and I never wanted to leave, because I was with my cousins and I felt that I had friends.

Reality or fantasy (Olga C. Casas)

REALITY OR FANTASY.

7 years ago, I was with my friends in the Cocora Valley in Salento, a beautiful and very calm place, I was in a natural reservation that is to 20 minutes of the town.

The place to stay was magic, this place had the basic comforts and the food was excellent.  I could not have my phone, computer or watch because the objective was to be outside of the civilization.

Every day, we got up early and we made a journey for different places of this reserve, all activities were directed.

At 8:00pm, they turned off the lights and only we could use flashlights, we were doing campfires; my friends said jokes or terror histories.

To the breakfast, always somebody said that in the night he had listened something different to the normal noises of the forest, but we laughed because we believed that it was part of their jokes.

The penultimate night; two of my friends organized a joke because there was dark, they inflated a pump, they tied a dental silk and hung to one of the cabins; as always we sat down in the floor to speak after the activities that we made out, when they saw that were all together, one of them pulled the silk and the sheet floated, alone we saw something floating, when they saw frightened, one lit the flashlights and lit the sheet. It was horrible, we cried much, one of my friends was impressed and ran out of the room, she jumped the scales of two in two and damaged a scale and the handrails, we hardly sleep that night.

The following day in the dining room, among laughs, we told what had happened and other friend said of the strange noises that had felt, it was different to the others and the dogs howled, but we didn't believe; the guide listened and laughed, then in a previous chat to the exits of the day, he explained that it was all true, all who were staying there said the same and some said that they saw lights, he explained that the hotel was located on an indigenous cemetery and for that reason the museum; this the worst news that we receive, we still had a night to sleep there.

This night, nobody slept, we don't leave to our night campfires, put the mattresses in the floor to see if together we could sleep; at 2 o'clock, when we had managed to rest a bit, one of them murmured “Somebody comes, I listen steps.” It scared us; the dogs and the animals woke up, it was horrible, we listened chains, steps, whispers and it was this way like for 15 minutes approximately but for us it was an eternity, we talked all night between the sheets because nobody wanted to look outside.

At 5 am, were up and start packing, leave before the scheduled time.

However, it was one of the best weeks for all the experiences I had.
